Guide to american clothes - girls (and guys, of course!

hi!

i started to buy about a year ago here and must say, i'm a huge fan of american brands. the fabric is longwear, models are simple and very comfortable, colors are saturated. i have some af, hco, ae, forever 21, anthropologie, gap and cannot complain.

but not long ago i've found that:

1) these brands are preppy, as i understand, clothes for high-schools | college students. i'm 30. am i too old for them? i also have some rl and lacoste e.g. but i do not feel hot and comfy in it, don't know why. just a obvious, boring clothing for me.

2) af and hco are racists and proud-to-be-white guys buy their clothes for accent. is it a myth or is that true, really? i'm in shock because i'm liberal and love af, high-quality clothing by the side of zara, mexx or benetton, overpriced and cheap quality here.
