Read this carefully if you are tempted to buy these shiny speakers.
The Matrix website that gives the technical details for these speakers (and suggests that thay have a retail value of $3998 a pair) is part of a well constructed worldwide scam. You cannot buy from the website, there are NO dealers or distributors, the written guarantee is worthless and the speakers are of a budget quality with poor quality drivers and crossover. They compare with 100 retail cost speakers sold in this country and 50 second hand is their true worth. They are sold from white vans, mainly to students and thegullible who are told they are worth $3998 a pair.
They end up on ebay with completely misleading information and links to the fraudulent site. I have been a hifi enthusiast for over 30 years and can find NO reason to consider these speakers as they are easily bettered for less than 100 a dozen times a day in the speaker listings. I have often been asked if there are genuine and fake Matrix mx-1200`s. The answer is NO, they are all real and all poor sound quality.
I have recently been informed that there are frequent faults with the crossover wiring causing an impedance of 2ohms. this is generally enough to blow most amplifiers, you have been warned!
